What Happens at Each Stage of MP DTE Counselling 2026

Registration and Application

To apply for DTE in Madhya Pradesh, eligible candidates must submit an online application via the DTE website. To complete the registration process, candidates will need:

  • A valid JEE Main 2026 All India Rank (only candidates with a positive composite score are eligible)
  • Their personal, academic and contact information
  • Their category (General, OBC, SC, ST, etc.) and domicile
  • Upload of required documents in the prescribed format

There is no offline registration process. The entire counselling is conducted online only.

Seat Allotment Rounds

Madhya Pradesh Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) generally has several rounds of centralized counselling based on JEE Main 2026 merit lists. The rounds work as follows:

  • Round 1 will be for filling the largest number of available seats based upon candidates’ registration, their category, and the number of available seats
  • If there are vacant seats after Round 1, Round 2 will be held
  • Once all of the available seats are filled via centralized rounds, any remaining vacancies will be allocated to colleges at the college level (by CLC), where each college will allot all of their own available seats
  • After the completion of centralized rounds of counselling, and only then, a branch change option will be available to candidates who were admitted at a particular institution but wish to apply for a different branch within the same institution, in accordance with the DTE Instructions.

The number of rounds will depend upon how many seats are filled at the end of Round 1. The DTE will determine this number based on how many seats remain vacant after the end of each round of the DTE counselling.

Admission Confirmation and Fee Payment

After a seat is allotted:

  • Candidates must pay the prescribed counselling and seat confirmation fee within the given window
  • Original documents must be submitted at the respective Admission Reporting Centre or allotted institute
  • Candidates who do not confirm within the deadline lose the allotted seat
  • Vacant seats from cancellations or non-confirmation are included in the upgrade process or next round

Key Dates Within Each Round

Within each counselling round, several time-bound activities happen in quick succession. Here is a typical sequence inside any single round:
