JAC Delhi Counselling Eligibility Criteria 2026 determines whether you can participate in the counselling process at all. Eligibility for JAC Delhi 2026 is evaluated on the basis of four main parameters:

  1. Qualifying Examination – which board exams are accepted

  3. JEE Main 2026 Rank – mandatory for all candidates
  4. Region – Delhi vs. Outside Delhi

Qualifying Examination

The qualifying examination for admission through JAC Delhi 2026 must be one of the following:

  • Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2) of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi
  • Indian School Certificate Examination (10+2) of the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi
  • Any other examination recognized as equivalent to the CBSE Senior School Certificate Examination

Important Note: Candidates who appeared in the qualifying examination in 2026 and have been placed in compartment (supplementary) will NOT be eligible for admission in JAC Delhi 2026.

Region Eligibility

Region is one of the most important and often misunderstood eligibility conditions in JAC Delhi counselling.

Special Case – Patrachar Vidyalaya / NIOS Candidates: If you passed through Patrachar Vidyalaya Delhi or NIOS, your region is determined by the location of your examination centre not your home address. If your exam centre was in NCT of Delhi, you are a Delhi Region candidate. If outside, you are an Outside Delhi Region candidate.

Age Criterion

There is no minimum or maximum age criterion for any programme at any of the four participating institutions such as DTU, NSUT, IGDTUW, or IIIT-Delhi under JAC Delhi 2026.

IGDTUW – Female Candidates Only

IGDTUW is open exclusively to female candidates. Male candidates cannot apply for any programme at IGDTUW through JAC Delhi 2026. All other eligibility conditions (marks, JEE rank, region) apply equally to female candidates as outlined above.

Candidates eligible for both B.Tech and B.Arch must make their preference clear during choice filling. Seat allotment will be based purely on the order of choices filled, there is no separate system for dual-eligible candidates.

Tie-Breaker Criteria

If two candidates have identical JEE Main CRL ranks after NTA’s tie-breaking, JAC Delhi 2026 will use following additional criteria in order:

  • Date of Birth – the elder candidate (born earlier) gets preference
  • Random draw – if the tie still persists

Who is NOT Eligible for JAC Delhi 2026

  • Candidates who appeared in JEE Main 2026 but scored below the minimum qualifying percentile
  • Candidates who passed Class XII in compartment in 2026
  • Male candidates applying for IGDTUW programmes
  • Candidates whose Class XII was from an unrecognised board
  • Candidates who did not pass English as a subject (for B.Tech at DTU/NSUT/IGDTUW)
  • Candidates who did not individually pass PCM subjects even if aggregate is 60%+

A. DTU, NSUT and IGDTUW will require an aggregate mark of at least 60% across Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Class XII. IIIT-Delhi has an aggregate mark of at least 70% across the best five subjects which must include Mathematics and have achieved a mark of at least 70%. 

Q. Can a student with a compartment in Class XII 2026 apply for JAC Delhi 2026?

A. Students who appeared for 2026 with a compartment result will be considered for JAC Delhi 2026. 

Q. Is there an age limit for JAC Delhi 2026?

A. Neither the minimum or maximum age for eligibility applies at any of the universities within JAC Delhi. 

Q. Can male candidates apply to IGDTUW through JAC Delhi 2026?

A. IGDTUW accepts only female candidates.

Q. Is the eligibility criteria the same for all four JAC Delhi universities?

A. For the most part they are; other than the case of IIIT-Delhi who require an aggregate of 70% of the best five subjects and have to include Mathematics with a minimum of 70% and the other three universities require an aggregate of 60% for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics total.

A. you will be able to apply to DTU for the remaining 15% of seats allocated to Outside National Capital Region candidates via your own rank which will be a separate competition.
