In 2008, the plan to establish a Medical College under the Bhagat Phool Singh Women’s University at Khanpur Kalan was first announced by the Chief Minister of Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Hooda. In 2009 Sonia Gandhi laid the foundation stone of the College. Women’s Medical College – BPS Government Medical College, Sonepat is the first women’s Government Medical College of independent India and the first such Institution in North India since Delhi’s Lady Hardinge Medical College that was established in 1914. The college was inaugurated on International Women’s Day 2013.

It is the first Medical College in Haryana only for girls located between the two highways the G.T. Road & NH 71 & it is also the 3rd Government College for Women in India. It is named on a social reformer and Saint Bhagat Phool Singh and is functional since 2012, consistently contributing towards Medical need of local region along with proximate districts and states.With medical developments are vangaurding socioeconomic development.

In 2011 the hospital at the college became operational with 100 beds and a team of 21 Doctors. This number has since grown to 450 beds and 211 Doctors as of March 2013. The hospital is running with 500 beds modular operation theatres, cutting edge ICU, trendsetting air-conditioned OPD block, blood bank and central laboratory, RICU, PICU, NICU, SICU, CT Scan, MRI, Mammography, X-Ray, USG, Fluoroscopy. With greater recognition and responsiveness, we are also escalating in our commitment for better services to the masses of this region.

This is a matter of great pride as it is the first medical college for girls’ medical education after independence, which is a milestone in the history of the country.

The Institute was started on a trial basis by Hon’ble Health Minister Rao Narender Singh in 2011 with 100 beds, open for the public with a team of 21 dedicated faculty members. The strength of the beds, as well as Doctors, grew at a very fast rate and today we have 450 beds for admission, state of art intensive areas with ventilators, Modular Operation Theaters, and world Class labor room. Today the total strength of Doctors has also increased to 211. This Institute is unique in itself that the MCI after doing the intense inspection granted the permission to admit 100 girls students on 2012 without any objection. Hence, 100 girls students are pursuing the MBBS course on campus.
