Gujarat ACPC B.Tech Counselling Eligibility Criteria for the academic year 2026-27 must be verified by every candidate before applying.

The registration window is open from 31 March 2026 and closes on 31 May 2026 and applying without meeting the criteria wastes your registration fee and gets your application rejected at the document verification stage. ACPC clearly defines who is eligible to participate in Degree Engineering Counselling, which entrance exams are accepted, what percentage is required in qualifying exams, and what documents must establish each eligibility criterion.

Basic Academic Eligibility

Qualifying Examination

In order to become eligible to appear in Gujarat ACPC Degree Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) Counselling 2026, candidates have to secure the following qualification:

He/She should have passed or must be appearing for the final examination of Class XII (10+2) or its equivalent with the subjects as prescribed from any of the recognized Board of Education. The prescribed qualifying examination for Gujarat ACPC Degree Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) counseling are as following:

  • Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) – HSC examination
  • CBSE – Class XII
  • ICSE/ISC – Class XII
  • Any equivalent examination which may be approved by the appropriate statutory bodies by virtue of the AICTE norms notified by the Government of Gujarat.

All three subjects – Mathematics, Physics, and one of the four listed options must be part of the qualifying examination. A candidate who has not studied Mathematics and Physics at the Class XII level is not eligible for ACPC B.Tech Counselling, regardless of their score in other subjects.

The minimum 45% is calculated on the aggregate of Physics, Mathematics, and the relevant third subject (Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology). Marks in other subjects are not counted for this calculation.

Candidates appearing in the 2026 board examination (who have not yet received their results at the time of registration) are also eligible to apply. Their provisional merit is calculated once results are declared. A revised merit list is published on 10 July 2026 to include candidates whose results improve after the initial merit declaration.

Entrance Exam Eligibility

GUJCET 2026: The GUJCET is the main entrance exam which is held for ACPC Degree Engineering Counselling. Students who had taken GUJCET 2026 are eligible for this counselling.

JEE (Main) 2026: Candidates who had taken JEE (Main) 2026 are also eligible for ACPC B.Tech Counselling. Both the scores of GUJCET 2026 and JEE (Main) 2026 are accepted for calculation of merit. Even if students had taken both exams, the best merit score based on ACPC merit calculation formula will be selected by them. 

Students who have score in atleast one of the entrance exam i.e. GUJCET 2026 or JEE (Main) 2026 will be eligible for this counseling.

Domicile of Gujarat is a fundamental eligibility requirement for state quota seats. Candidates from other states who do not have Gujarat domicile are not eligible for state quota seats under ACPC. However, they may be eligible for All India Quota (AIQ) seats if applicable at specific institutes.

Domicile Proof

The domicile requirement is typically established through the School Leaving Certificate from a school in Gujarat or a domicile/residence certificate from a competent authority. Candidates should verify their domicile status before registering.

Category-Wise Eligibility

Candidates can avail reservation benefit under any of the following groups of seats. For seeking the benefit of reservation the candidate must be eligible for the respective groups and must upload the valid certificate corresponding to the groups.

1. Schedule Caste (SC): Candidates eligible for benefit of reservation under the SC group seats must have their caste notified as Schedule Caste in Gujarat and should produce valid SC caste certificate issued by the competent authority.

2. Schedule Tribe (ST): Candidates eligible for benefit of reservation under the ST group seats must have their caste notified as Schedule Tribe in Gujarat and should produce valid ST caste certificate issued by the competent authority.

3. Socially and Educationally Backward Class (SEBC): Candidates eligible for benefit of reservation under the SEBC group seats must produce valid NCL (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate AND caste certificate from competent authority as per the provisions made below:-

a. Non-Creamy layer certificate in Gujarati Language, issued after 01 April 2024 by competent authority and caste mentioned in it. 

b. If caste is not mentioned in the Non-Creamy layer certificate, a caste certificate should also be attached.

4. General-EWS (Economically Weaker Sections): Candidates who belong to General Category and their family income is within the prescribed limit are eligible for benefit of reservation under the EWS group seats and should produce valid EWS certificate issued by competent Government Authority after 01 April 2024.

Sub-Category Eligibility

Physically Handicapped (PH)

Candidates with less than 45% disability are not eligible for PH sub-category benefits. The certificate must be from the District Civil Surgeon only, certificates from other medical authorities are not accepted by ACPC.

In-Serviceman (ESM – Serving)

Candidates whose father or mother is currently serving in the Indian defence forces (Army, Navy, Air Force) are eligible for the In-Serviceman sub-category. A serving certificate specifically issued by the Commanding Officer of the concerned unit for the purpose of education for the ward is required.

Ex-Serviceman (ESM – Retired)

Candidates whose father or mother has retired from the Indian defence forces are eligible for the Ex-Serviceman sub-category. A certificate issued by the District Sainik Welfare Officer for the purpose of education for the ward is required.

TFW is not a reservation, it is a fee benefit. TFW-eligible candidates participate in the general or their respective category merit list and compete for seats the same way as other candidates. The only difference is that if allotted a seat, they do not pay tuition fees.

Eligibility for Supernumerary (NRI / OCI / FN / CIWGC) Seats

ACPC offers supernumerary seats in Government Engineering Colleges for four special categories. Eligibility for these seats is different from regular state quota seats.

NRI (Non-Resident Indian): Indian citizens, who are residing outside the country for the purpose of employment, business or for other reasons, can apply in NRI category.

OCI (Overseas Citizen of India): Person of Indian Origin holding an OCI card issued by the Govt. Of India can apply in OCI category.

FN (Foreign National): citizens of other country, who desire to undergo higher education of Engineering in Gujarat state, can apply in FN category.

CIWGC (Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries): The Indian worker who are working in gulf countries (i.e. UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar) are entitled to nominate their ward for admission in these seats under CIWGC category.

Academic Eligibility for supernumerary UG (BE/B.Tech) seats: Candidate passed or appearing in 2026 in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) or its equivalent examination from the school situated outside India. Candidate must have passed in Mathematics, physics and one of the following subjects: Chemistry /Bio-technology / Computer Science / Biology. The candidate must have scored minimum 45% marks as per AICTE norms as prescribed by Government.

Academic Eligibility for supernumerary PG (ME/M.Tech/MCA) seats: Candidate passed the qualifying examination with minimum 45% from the relevant statutory bodies. As per AICTE norms prescribed by Government.
