Jammu and Kashmir NEET PG Counselling 2026: Dates, Registration, Eligibility, Quota & Process

Jammu and Kashmir NEET PG Counselling 2026 is the admission process for MD, MS and PG Diploma seats in the medical colleges of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, based on the NEET PG 2026 result. The counselling is conducted by the J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) for candidates from J&K and Ladakh. NBEMS declared the NEET PG 2026 result on 24 September 2026, and BOPEE has since opened registration for the Provisional Merit List (PML).

The seats are divided into two parts, 50% of the MD/MS/PG Diploma seats in the UT are filled through NEET PG 2026 merit by BOPEE. The other 50% go to the All India Quota (AIQ), which is handled by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). MCC NEET PG counselling and J&K counselling are two separate processes.

BOPEE counselling covers seats in the government medical colleges and also all seats in the private medical college, which is ASCOMS, Sidhra, Jammu. This includes management, Hindu Minority and NRI seats at ASCOMS.

BOPEE started registration on 14 October 2026 and it will end on 16 October 2026 (midnight). Candidates who qualify but do not register and upload all documents by this date will not be considered for counselling or seat allotment.

Jammu and Kashmir NEET PG Counselling 2026 Quotas

The quota structure decides which counselling a candidate should follow. In J&K, seats are split between MCC and BOPEE, and the private college seats are also filled by BOPEE.

All India Quota (AIQ)

50% of the MD/MS/PG Diploma seats in J&K are filled through MCC under AIQ. Candidates apply for these seats through MCC and follow its schedule. Candidates who were nominated by the Government of India under Central Pool seats for MBBS in J&K medical colleges are eligible for AIQ seats. They have to submit a signed undertaking for this.

UT Quota (BOPEE)

The other 50% seats are filled through NEET PG 2026 merit by BOPEE. These are for candidates who are residents of J&K or Ladakh. All J&K quota seats in government medical colleges are filled through NEET PG 2026, and J&K reservation rules apply.

Private College Seats (ASCOMS)

BOPEE fills all seats in ASCOMS, including management quota, Hindu Minority Quota (HMQ) and NRI seats. The tentative distribution of the 51 seats is given below.

Seat TypeSeats
OM/Government Quota25
Management Quota (total)26
of which Open Merit8
of which Hindu Minority Quota13
of which NRI5

Seats other than HMQ and NRI are filled in the common counselling through the preferences given by candidates. HMQ and NRI seats are filled separately through physical counselling on dates to be notified, because extra documents need to be checked.

Only candidates who have registered and figure in the PML can compete for these seats. If no NRI candidate is available, the seat is allotted to other candidates on merit-cum-preference as notified by the Board, and the fee for such a seat will also be notified by the Board. Candidates should confirm the annual fee for management quota seats directly with ASCOMS.

  • In-service candidates can take part provisionally. They can join the college only after producing the NOC within the dates fixed by the Board. The in-service certificate has to be forwarded by the Director Health Services, Jammu/Kashmir.
  • Doctors doing a PG or PG Diploma course at government expense cannot apply for another specialty in J&K medical institutions until that course is completed.
  • Candidates who took admission in an earlier year but left the course midway are not eligible for counselling for at least 3 years.
  • A candidate whose final exam result of an ongoing PG/Diploma is awaited can take part if the result comes before the last date of registration. The candidate must inform BOPEE with full details.
  • Category certificates must be valid on 16 October 2026. Certificates that are only under process are not accepted.
  • Government and private college seats are filled from the same merit list. HMQ and NRI seats have additional document requirements.

Difficult area service weightage

Candidates who have served in notified difficult areas get extra marks. The weightage is 10% of the marks obtained in the NEET PG score for each completed year of service, up to a maximum of 30%. Service on ad hoc, contractual or NRHM basis counts. The certificate must come from the concerned Director Health Services. Only candidates who have secured the qualifying NEET PG marks get these marks.

  • A reserved category candidate selected in the open merit list can still be considered for a discipline in their own category. Disciplines left over after the last open merit allotment go to the reserved pool.
  • There is no reservation for in-service candidates serving in rural areas.
  • Sports category admission is strictly on NEET PG merit and preference. Sports points are used only for eligibility and shortlisting, and the J&K Sports Council has to forward the points to BOPEE.

  • The Board does not edit the information submitted by candidates, so check every entry before final submission.
