How to Fill and Lock Choices on the UPTAC Portal
- Go to the Choice Filling section from your dashboard at https://uptac.samarth.edu.in (Login using Application Form number and password).
- On the portal (available by 15 June 2026), download/open the official UPTAC 2026 seat matrix to check seat availability by college-branch-category and ensure availability in your category before adding any choice.
- Search for your college-branch preferences. You can choose any combination of colleges and branches and add them in order of preference. This is a preference-based and merit-driven system so there’s no problem if you keep ambitious choices at the top, as it will automatically go to your next preference if the top is not possible.
- Check each choice you have made by referring to past year UPTAC opening and closing ranks PDFs. If you find your JEE Main rank is consistently way behind the closing rank of a particular choice, then you have to modify it.
- Review your final choice list. Adding about 25-35 choice combinations generally gives you the maximum benefit; consider placing government colleges at the top, a number of realistic choices in the mid, and a few backup private choices at the bottom.
- Lock your choices before the due date by clicking on ‘Lock Choices’. If you do not lock the choices, the submitted preferences will not be considered under any circumstance during allotment. Save and take a print out of the confirmation page.
- Round 3 Is Your Final Edit: Round 3 (6–7 July 2026) is the last opportunity to change choices. Preferences locked in Round 3 are also used for Round 4 allotment and internal sliding. Treat it as your definitive, final preference list, not just another round.
