The University of Hyderabad (UoH), one of the major institutions of higher education in India is largely devoted to postgraduate studies and is widely known for its excellence in research and for its distinguished faculty.
However, founded in 1974 with Prof. Gurbaksh Singh as its first Vice Chancellor, University of Hyderabad – also known as Hyderabad Central University or HCU- has emerged as a leading center of teaching and research.

The Placement Guidance and Advisory Bureau (PGAB) publicise information about employment opportunities and make information available about higher education in India and other countries.
Placement talks arrangement and facilities are available for Campus interviews. Every School has a faculty placement coordinator and the student placement coordinators help in the placement process which is coordinated by the PGAB.
A large number of students have been able to secure good jobs through the placement of some of the reputed multinational companies, Govt. agencies, etc.

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Library at the University of Hyderabad has a collection of more than 3.56-lakh books and other reference material and subscribes to about 600 foreign journals and 18,000 online journals and 10 online databases.

Hostels, Canteens, and Recreational Centres
There are 21 hostels (13 for men and 8 for women) for students to stay at the University of Hyderabad.
The Tagore International House caters to international students.
There are two shopping complexes; one at the North campus and one situated at the South Campus.
Also, there are four canteens. Like the student’s canteen, Goodwill Canteen and one situated inside the School of Life Sciences.

The CV Raman Auditorium has a capacity of 200. It is located inside the Science complex which serves as a conference and seminar hall. The BR Ambedkar auditorium is for cultural events, public talks, debates, and other events. There is another auditorium located inside the Humanities block.
Ranking:
The University of Hyderabad was ranked 601-650 in the QS World University Rankings of 2018. It was ranked 11 in India overall by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2018 and fifth among universities.
