Online Registration Dates – What You Must Know

The registration window is open for about 4 weeks. During this window, you need to complete your full registration, upload all documents, and pay the counselling fee.

There is a hard deadline for fee payment. Even though the registration closing time was 10:00 PM, the fee payment window stayed open until 11:59 PM on the same date. This means if you filled your form but missed the payment, your application was treated as incomplete and rejected. Keep this in mind and do not leave payment for the last minute.

2-Day Editing Window

After registration closes, BCECEB gives candidates a short editing window of just 2 days to correct mistakes in their application form.

This window is useful but very short. You can correct details like your category selection, contact information, or uploaded documents. However, it is much better to get everything right during the main registration period. Relying on the editing window as a fallback plan is risky. After the editing window closes, no changes are allowed under any circumstances.

Merit List Publication Date

After the registration and editing window closes, BCECEB processes all applications and prepares the UGEAC 2026 merit list. This list is published on the official website and shows your rank within your category and programme. The exact date is not announced in advance but is notified separately on the website.

Your rank in the merit list determines which college and branch you are likely to get during counselling. Once the merit list is out, spend time researching previous year cutoff ranks for colleges you want to target.

Online Counselling Dates

The online counselling dates are not fixed in advance. They are announced after the merit list is published. BCECEB notifies the counselling schedule separately on the website.

All your preferences will be submitted to the online system for processing and assignment of seats based on merit rank order. The three standard stages of counselling are:

  • Round 1: This Round is open to all candidates who have registered for counselling and have a valid rank on the merit list. Round 1 is where the majority of the available seats are filled.
  • Mop-up Counselling: This Round is conducted after the main counselling round (Round 1). This Round fills in seats that were vacant after Round 1 was completed. Candidates who did not secure themselves a seat in Round 1 or did not want to attempt to better their placement have an opportunity to either secure themselves a placement through the Mop-Up Round or to attempt to improve upon their original allotment through the Mop-Up Round.
  • Special Mop-up Counselling: This Round is conducted for the remaining vacant seats. This Round will be conducted specifically for the seats that are available under NRI and Self-Financed quotas. From this Round, if there are still any remaining vacant seats available, the BCECEB will designate some of these vacant-remaining seats to be assigned to candidates from the State Quota.

What Should You Do Right Now?

If JEE Main 2026 results are just out or about to come, here is what you should start doing:

  • Get your documents ready. Caste certificate, residential certificate, disability certificate, income certificate, marksheets, collecting these takes time. Do not wait for the registration window to open.
  • Check the BCECEB website regularly. The 2026 schedule will appear there first.
  • Research colleges and branches. Use previous year cutoff data to shortlist realistic options. The more prepared you are before counselling, the better choices you will fill.
  • Note down your exact JEE Main 2026 Application Number and other login details. You will need these for UGEAC registration.
