WB NEET Counselling 2026 Registration Process
WB NEET Counselling 2026 is completely online and will be done on the WBMCC website. Here is the process with each and every step.
Step 1: Visit the Official Portal
First, open the WBMCC official website which is https://wbmcc.nic.in/. Click on the UG Medical & Dental menu and select ‘Candidate Registration and Login’. Then, click on the‘New Candidate Registration’ link, as it’s a one time registration process for WB NEET Counselling.
Step 2: Accept the Agreement
The candidates have to agree to the terms and conditions which are mentioned on the agreement page. You need to click on “I Agree”.
Step 3: Enter Your Personal Details
In this step, enter the details like NEET UG 2026 roll number, application number, name of the candidate, name of mother and date of birth which is exactly as mentioned on the admit card. Ensure to enter details precisely, otherwise, they will not be registered.
Step 4: Set Your Password
Create Password Once you have filled in and submitted all your personal details, an authentication with NEET database will take place and you will be asked to “Create Password” as per the password criteria displayed on the screen. Do not share your password, WBMCC and NIC will not be responsible in case of misuse of the account due to shared password.
Step 5: OTP Verification
Enter OTP & Security Code After that, an OTP will be sent to the mobile number and the email ID provided by you at the time of application for NEET UG, which was registered with NTA. Enter the OTP along with the security code displayed and click on “Verify & Final Submit”.
Step 6: Fill the Application Form
After your registration is validated, click on “Application Form.” Your basic NEET details will auto-populate. You then need to select additional information like religion and caste category.
At this stage, you can only declare either Open category or OBC Category A/OBC Category B status afresh. SC, ST, EWS, and PwD status cannot be declared afresh during West Bengal NEET UG counselling, these are carried forward from what you already declared in your NEET UG form, and you will simply be asked whether your certificate is issued by an authority in West Bengal.
Step 7: Upload Bank Details
You need to upload a clear image of a cancelled cheque, bank passbook, or online bank statement showing your account details.
Step 8: Answer Category-Specific Questions
Candidates must answer a set of category-specific questions which appear on the screen depending on the candidate type, Caste category, and NRI status (if applicable). Candidates also choose their physical document verification center in this part.
Step 9: Fill Class 12 Details and Contact Information
Candidates have to fill in the Class 10+2 passing details and their Address & Contact details in the form.
Step 10: Preview and Final Submission
Review everything carefully. If all details are correct, click “Save & Final Submit.” If you spot any errors before payment, you can use the “Registration Unlocking” button to go back and edit. Once you make the fee payment, registration unlocking is no longer allowed under any circumstances.
Step 11: Make Payment
Candidates then have to pay the counselling fee by agreeing to the terms and clicking on “I Agree”.
Step 12: Download Candidate Profile Letter
Once payment is successful, your Candidate Profile Letter is generated. This letter contains your physical document verification venue, date, and time slot. Download and print this, you cannot get verified without it.

Documents for NRI Quota
NRI Quota candidates need to submit documents as specifically notified by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), New Delhi, in their respective notices. These are usually submitted directly at the time of admission at the designated centre, not during the regular pre-choice verification stage.
All documents for State Quota and Management Quota need to be carried in original along with one set of self-attested photocopies at the time of physical document verification. Without the hard copy of your Candidate Profile Letter and payment receipt, verification simply will not happen, so don’t forget to print these out.
Choice Filling and Choice Locking Process
Once you clear physical document verification, you move to the choice filling stage and this is one of most important parts of West Bengal NEET counselling registration because your seat allotment depends entirely on how you arrange your preferences.
How to Access Choice Filling
Login in to wbmcc.nic.in with your NEET UG roll number, password, and the security code that has been given. Now your dashboard would contain a list of how many choices available for you as State Quota, Management Quota or NRI Quota depending on your eligibility.
Filling Your Choices
Click on “Choice Filling” and enter your password to begin. The system shows you all available choices on the left panel based on your eligibility category. You can keep adding choices by clicking “Add” against each institution you want, and they move to the “Filled Choices” panel on the right.
A few important things to know here:
- NRI candidates cannot see State Quota or Management Quota choices, and vice versa
- Non-domicile candidates eligible only for Private Management seats cannot see NRI or State Quota options
- You can add as many choices as you want from your available list
- Choice processing happens strictly based on the seat matrix and seat conversion policy of that particular round
Arranging and Editing Choices
Once choices are added, you can rearrange them using options like “Manage Filled Choices,” “Choice Interchange,” “Choice Rearrange,” and “Multiple Deletion.” You can move choices up or down, swap their order, or delete them entirely, as long as you haven’t locked your list yet.
Saving Your Choices
This is important, choices that are added but not saved will not be considered for allotment at all. Always click “Save and Continue” or “Save and Go to Home” after adding your preferences.
Locking Your Choices
Once you are satisfied with your arrangement, click “Lock Choice.” You will be asked to confirm “I agree to lock my choices” and enter your password. After locking, no changes are allowed whatsoever.
If you forget to lock your choices manually, don’t panic completely, the system will auto-lock whatever you saved once the choice locking window closes. But relying on auto-lock is risky, since you might forget to save your latest arrangement. Always lock your choices yourself before the deadline.

Seat Allotment Process for WB NEET Counselling
Seat allotment under West Bengal NEET counselling is processed by the NIC software based on your locked choices and your merit rank within your eligible category. Here is how the process unfolds after choice locking.
How Allotment Works
The system goes through each candidate’s choice list from the top, checking seat availability against the seat matrix for that round. If your first preference is available for your rank and category, you get that seat. If not, the system checks your next preference, and so on down your list.
Post-Allotment Document Verification
Once allotted, there is a second and final round of physical document verification at the allotted college level. This is separate from the earlier pre-choice verification. During this stage, if the college authority finds your caste or PwD documents inadequate, a few things can happen:
- If you still qualify under the Unreserved cut-off, you get admitted as an unreserved candidate and remain eligible for subsequent rounds in that status
- If your reserved category documents are found inadequate, your category gets converted to Unreserved/Non-PwD for that round, your current seat gets cancelled, but you may still be eligible in the next round with your changed status, provided you meet the relevant cut-off
Completing Admission
After successful verification, you get a system-generated admission letter. You submit your original documents at the college and get a receipt for them. During Round 1 admission specifically, you will be asked whether you want to participate in subsequent rounds. If you say yes, you only need to pay the admission fee at that point; your willingness keeps you eligible for Round 2.
Non-Reporting Consequences
If you fail to appear for document verification at your allotted college within the stipulated time with your original documents and college fee, you are termed a “non-reported candidate,” and your seat becomes vacant for that round.
Seat Surrender Rules
- Surrendering your seat during Round 1 admission is allowed without any penalty
- Surrendering during Round 2 admission is allowed but comes with forfeiture of admission fees
- Seat surrender is not allowed from Round 3 onward until the entire counselling session concludes
- After Round 3 admission, you are not allowed to participate in any further round, and surrender is also not permitted at that stage
Conversion Rules for Vacant Seats
In Round 3, if seats remain vacant in reserved categories, a defined conversion sequence applies. For example, SC seats can convert to ST and vice versa, OBC Category A and OBC Category B can convert into each other, and EWS seats convert to UR. However, SC/ST seats cannot convert to UR, and OBC Category A/B seats cannot convert to UR, without specific permission from the Backward Class Welfare Department (BCWD), Government of West Bengal.

Round 1

Round 2
