Registration for Himachal Pradesh NEET UG registration 2026 is entirely online, and candidates are advised to use a laptop or computer with an updated browser to avoid technical issues during registration and choice filling. The steps below summarise the process as described below:

  • Visit the official AMRU website, www.amruhp.ac.in, and go to Admission then Apply for Admission and Counselling then Click MBBS/BDS.
  • Register using an authenticated mobile number and a unique email ID that has not been used before in the system, since this is a one-time registration.
  • Verify the email ID and mobile number through OTP, and enter the captcha code to complete registration.
  • Fill in personal details such as name, father’s name, NEET roll number, category and admission quota, making sure the details match the NEET-UG-2026 record exactly.
  • Fill in address details, followed by eligibility and category details, choosing only one reserved category if applicable, since it cannot be changed later.
  • Fill in qualification details and upload the required documents, including photograph and signature in the prescribed size and format.
  • Pay the applicable online application fee, since payment alone does not complete the application.
  • Click Final Submit to lock the application form, then download and print the PDF confirmation copy, as no edits are allowed after final submission.

State quota candidates are also required to compulsorily fill the management quota category in the application form, though a management quota seat is allotted only if they have also filled a college choice under that quota.

If a candidate opts for multiple quotas, courses, or colleges that fall under different token fee slabs, the highest applicable token fee has to be deposited. Candidates who do not pay the required token fee will not be considered for seat allocation in that round.

HP Bonafide/SC/ST certificates must be issued on or after 1.1.2015, while certificates for other reserved categories such as OBC, EWS, PwD, Ex-Servicemen wards and similar categories must be issued on or after 1.7.2023, by the competent authority.

Choice Filling and Choice Locking Process

Choice filling begins after the display of the final merit list for each round of Himachal Pradesh NEET Counselling choice filling. It is mandatory for every candidate to submit and lock fresh choices in every round, since only candidates who complete this process are considered for seat allotment in that particular round.

  • Log in to the AMRU counselling portal using the registered credentials.
  • Go to the College Preferences section on the dashboard.
  • Review the list of available colleges, courses and quotas, and arrange preferences in the desired order.
  • Click the Submit/Lock Preferences button once satisfied with the selection.
  • Once locked, preferences cannot be edited after the choice filling window for that round closes as per the schedule.

Candidates who are satisfied with their Round 1 allotment and do not want an upgrade are not required to participate in Round 2 or Round 3. However, if a candidate already admitted in an earlier round wants to try for an upgrade, they must provisionally surrender their existing seat before filling fresh preferences for the next round.

If such a candidate does not receive an upgraded seat in the later round, their earlier seat and category remain unchanged. Round-wise choice filling is mandatory each time, meaning a candidate cannot carry forward a previous round’s locked choices into a new round.

Himachal Pradesh NEET UG Counselling 2026 Reservation Policy

Seats in Himachal Pradesh Government Medical and Dental Colleges are divided between Group-A (reserved) and Group-B (unreserved) categories, in addition to the All India Quota, NRI quota and ESI quota wherever applicable. Reserved category candidates who qualify on general merit under Group-B are not counted against the reserved seats.

If eligible candidates are not available in the SC or ST category, such seats are made inter-transferable between SC and ST before being converted to the unreserved category. PwD seats that remain unfilled are converted to the General category, and unfilled NRI, J&K Migrant and Tibetan Refugee seats are also filled from the General category in the third round if no eligible candidates are available in the respective category.

Seat Allotment Process for Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh NEET UG seat allotment 2026 is carried out through an online, merit-cum-choice based system managed by the Common/Centralised Counselling Committee. The complete process for each round works as follows.

  • Publication of the provisional seat matrix before choice filling opens.
  • Choice filling of course, college and quota preferences by eligible candidates.
  • Locking of preferences before the round’s deadline.
  • Processing of seat allocation strictly on merit-cum-choice and category basis.
  • Publication of the provisional and then final seat allotment result.
  • Downloading the provisional/final allotment letter from the candidate login.
  • Reporting to the allotted college with original documents for verification.
  • Confirmation of eligibility and medical fitness by the college Admission Committee.
