UPTAC Special Round is the last round of UPTAC 2026 counselling which comes after Round 1 and Round 2 are finished. In this round, all the remaining vacant seats are to be filled. The special round registration date will be announced by AKTU on https://uptac.admissions.nic.in after Round 2 results and reporting are over.

This round holds particular importance for two groups: candidates who could not get a seat or preferred college in the main rounds, and candidates from outside Uttar Pradesh whose parents are not UP domiciles, a category that is not eligible in the main rounds at all.

Who Is Eligible for the UPTAC Special Round?

The special round is open to a broader set of candidates compared to the main rounds:

All candidates from the main rounds who did not get allotted a seat or wish to try for better options can register for the special round.

Outside-UP candidates (OSGE category) – candidates who passed their qualifying exam from an institution outside UP and whose parents (both father and mother) are not domicile of UP. This group is exclusively eligible only in the special round and not in Round 1 or Round 2.

Candidates who registered but did not participate in the main rounds may also be eligible, subject to AKTU’s conditions at the time of the special round.

What Seats Are Available in the Special Round?

The seats that would be available in special round would be the seats left vacant or surrendered during Round 1 and Round 2 due to following reasons:

  • Non reporting of candidates to the allocated college.
  • Withdrawal from the counselling during the stipulated time period.
  • Non-filling of a category seat.

As these are vacant seats, the number of seats available for a particular college, branch and category is highly variable. CSE in the top government college may have no or few seats whereas some other branch in new colleges would have abundant seats.

How to Register for the UPTAC Special Round

  • Visit https://uptac.admissions.nic.in when the special round registration window opens

Important Notes for the Special Round

  • The special round has its own reporting deadline, failure to report results in seat cancellation with no refund
  • OSGE candidates must note that this is their only window in the entire UPTAC 2026 process
  • Seats available in the special round are subject to change right up to the opening of the round, depending on last-minute reporting and withdrawals in Round 2
  • Check the official seat matrix before filling choices to avoid selecting a college with zero available seats in your category
