Who Can Apply in the UPTAC Spot Round

The spot round is open to the following candidates:

All registered candidates from main rounds who were not allotted a seat or wish to try for a better college or branch after Round 2.

Outside-UP candidates (OSGE category) – students who passed their qualifying exam from an institution outside UP and whose parents (both father and mother) are not domicile of Uttar Pradesh. This group is exclusively eligible only in the spot round. This is a crucial distinction, if you fall in the OSGE category, the spot round is your only window in the entire UPTAC 2026 process.

What Seats Are Available in the Spot Round

In the spot round, the seats that are left vacant after Round 1 and Round 2 as a result of the following are considered:

  • Candidates who did not report to the college that they were allocated, by the specified due date
  • Candidates who have officially withdrawn from the counseling session
  • Seats that have been unfilled in any category during the original rounds of counseling.

The availability of seats in the top most government colleges would be nil or would only consist of a couple of vacancies; however the case with private and newer colleges will have more vacancies across branches.

How to Register for the UPTAC Spot Round

  • Previously registered candidates can log in with their UPTAC 2026 login credentials.
  • New registered candidates (fresh candidates under the OSGE category) should register afresh and pay the fee amount of 1,000.
  • All candidates will enter the choices from the spot round seat matrix which will be available.
  • The process of allotment will be on the basis of the rank and the choice preferences like previous round of main counseling.
  • Candidates allotted a college in spot round must report to the respective college before the last reporting date along with the original documents.

Key Points About the Spot Round

  • The spot round is the last and final round, no further counselling is conducted after this
  • Failing to report within the spot round deadline leads to seat cancellation with no fee refund
  • The seat matrix for the spot round is published fresh, reflecting only the remaining vacant seats
  • OSGE candidates should not wait until the main round results to plan, begin preparing documents well in advance of the spot round registration date
