Round-Wise Strategy for B.Tech Counselling

Knowing the dates of counselling is just half the battle; knowing how to plan each round is also important.

Round 1: Fill a balanced mix of ambitious and realistic college-branch choices. If your JEE Main rank is borderline for top government colleges, do not fill only those include private college options as backup. The allotment system works in your favour only if your choice list gives it enough options.

Round 2: If a college-branch option other than your first preference is allocated to you in Round 1, again fill the counseling form for the second round with better options. Closing ranks often relax slightly as non-reporting candidates free up seats. Round 2 is a risk-free upgrade attempt, if it does not improve your allotment, your Round 1 seat remains.

Special Round: Remaining vacant seats are available at the most relaxed cutoffs of the entire cycle. OSGE candidates (outside UP) can also participate here for the first time.
