- Once Round 1 is complete and candidates who received a seat either Freeze or Opt for upgradation, there are no candidates competing with them for any of the other available seats, which ultimately decreases the pool of candidates who may potentially fill a seat in subsequent rounds.
- The physical non-reporting of candidates following completion of Round 3 creates new vacancies for the Special Round.
- Withdrawals at any stage add to the pool of available seats
- The Spot Round typically sees the most relaxed cutoffs as it draws from all remaining vacancies.
This means if your rank narrowly missed a branch in Round 1, you may still get it in Round 3, the Special Round, or even the Spot Round particularly for mid-tier branches and UIET PUSSGRC branches.

- SC category closing ranks are consistently numerically higher (more relaxed) than General category for the same branch
- ST category has the most relaxed cutoffs numerically due to smaller seat pool and fewer candidates
