The deadline to sign up for the first round of counseling is June 19th, 2026, at 11:59 PM. It is very important that you fill out the registration form correctly if you are looking to be admitted into B.E./B.Tech programs at the various engineering colleges across the state of Haryana for the 2026-2027
The rest of this article will explain how to complete the entire seven-step process for registering online, what the PPP ID is, why you need to have a PPP ID, and some common mistakes to avoid when filling out your application.
Before You Start – Get These Ready
Do not open the registration form without having the following on hand:
- JEE Main 2026 Roll Number and All India Rank
- Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) ID if you are a Haryana resident. Check it at https://meraparivar.haryana.gov.in and make sure all your details are verified
- Aadhaar Card (mandatory for all)
- Class XII marksheet and Class X certificate
- Coloured passport-size photograph in JPG or JPEG format (maximum 30 KB)
- Specimen signature in JPG or JPEG format (maximum 20 KB)
- Scanned PDFs of category certificates, KM/HGST/EWS certificates if applicable (maximum 100 KB each)
- Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI details for fee payment
Understanding the PPP ID Requirement
PPP ID (Parivar Pehchan Patra) is the family identity card issued by the Haryana government. For HSTES 2026, it is mandatory for all Haryana resident candidates.
When you enter your PPP ID during registration, the portal automatically fetches your name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth, category (SC/BC/General), sub-category, and annual family income from the state’s PPP database. These fields are non-editable in the application form. Whatever is in your PPP database comes into your form directly.
This means if your PPP data has errors or is unverified, your application will have wrong information. For example, if your category is not verified on PPP, you will be treated as a General category candidate, even if you actually belong to SC, BC-A, or BC-B. Get your PPP ID verified before registration opens.
Out-of-state candidates use their Aadhaar number instead of PPP ID. However, if their Aadhaar is linked to the Haryana PPP database, they will not be allowed to register as an out-of-state candidate.
7-Step Registration Process for HSTES B.Tech 2026
Step 1: Sign-Up and Create Login
Access the official website of HSTES to register yourself at https://techadmissionshry.gov.in and choose either “Register” or “Sign Up for B-Tech.” At this stage, you have to input your JEE Mains 2026 Roll Number (from your admission letter) along with creating a password for yourself.
Once you have registered, make sure to keep a record of your Unique Application Number. This number will be required in all future communications with HSTES (or if you need assistance from the helpline). Keep your password strictly confidential. If someone else gets your password, HSTES holds you solely responsible for any changes made to your registration.
Step 2: Fill Category, Sub-category and PPP ID Details
When entering your information, you will have the option to provide your PPP ID (Haryana candidate) or an Aadhaar number (non-Haryana candidate). Select your category and sub-category. If you belong to a special category like ESM, FF, KM, HGST, TFW, or EWS, select that too.
For Haryana candidates, the system will fetch category, income, and family details from your PPP ID automatically. Do not try to manually override these details. During this step, you also fill:
- Gender
- Whether you are eligible for Haryana domicile
- Physically handicapped status (if applicable)
- Parental annual income (as verified from PPP ID)
- Contact address, home district, pin code
- Mobile number and email address
- Aadhaar number or enrolment number
- Bank account number, bank name, and IFSC code
- APAAR ID (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry, if available)
Step 3: Upload Photograph and Signature
Upload your coloured photograph (JPG or JPEG, maximum 30 KB). The photo must be the same as used in your JEE Main 2026 admit card. Also upload your specimen signature (JPG or JPEG, maximum 20 KB). Both files must be clearly visible and within size limits.
Step 4: Fill Qualifying Examination Details
Provide information such as your board name for Class XII, school name, year of passing, aggregate percentage score, and percentages in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics separately. Also provide your All India Rank in JEE Main 2026.
The name of your school, whether it is government or private and its location play an important role. In case you have passed Class XII from a school based out of Haryana state, then you are automatically a Haryana domicile. Otherwise, you require a residence certificate or you can opt for RoHC category application form.
Step 5: Confirm Registration Details
It is advised that you double check each and every field prior to finalizing your information. Double check your personal details like name, date of birth, PPP ID, category, JEE rank, etc.
Step 6: Upload Documents
Upload scanned PDF copies of required documents. Each file must not exceed 100 KB. The documents required vary by category:
| Candidate Type | Documents to Upload |
|---|---|
| All B.Tech Candidates | DMC of qualifying exam, proof of Date of Birth (Class X certificate) |
| Haryana Residents (qualifying exam not from Haryana school) | Haryana Residence Certificate or employer certificate (Annexure-II) |
| KM Category | Migration certificate signed by competent authority or Relief Commissioner |
| HGST Category | Certificate from Principal of Govt. School confirming candidate is topper (Annexure-X) |
| EWS Category | EWS Income and Asset Certificate issued by Tehsildar |
| ESM / FF Category | Relevant annexure certificates (Annexure-V or VI) |
| B.Arch Candidates | NATA 2026 score card and DMC of qualifying exam |
For KM and HGST candidates: if you have the original document, upload it directly. If you downloaded it from a portal, print it, self-attest it, then upload.
Step 7: Pay Registration Fee Online
After uploading documents, pay the registration fee through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI. The fee amounts are:
| Category | Registration Fee |
|---|---|
| General Category | Rs. 1,000/- + payment gateway service charges |
| SC / SCD / BC / PH / FF / ESM / KM / Girls / EWS | Rs. 700/- + payment gateway service charges |
This fee is completely non-refundable. Once paid, only then is your registration treated as complete. Without payment, your form is not accepted for counselling.
After payment, download and take a printout of your completed application form. You will need to carry this at the time of physical reporting.
Registration for 2nd Counselling
Students who have enrolled for the first round counselling will not be required to re-enroll for the second round counselling. All they have to do is sign in and reapply for their choice of institutions during the second choice filing period.
Fresh candidates who missed the 1st counselling registration can register during the 2nd counselling window from June 30 to July 6, 2026 and pay the registration fee during the same period.
Can You Edit Your Registration After Submission?
Before you click the confirmation button in Step 5, you can edit most fields. After confirmation, fields fetched from PPP ID cannot be changed at all. Other editable fields can only be corrected by contacting HSTES directly.
Avoid submitting duplicate applications. If you submit more than one application, all your applications will be cancelled automatically.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Not verifying PPP ID before registration: It is the most common mistake committed by Haryana applicants. Entering wrong category or income details because of an incorrect PPP ID may lead you to lose the reservation advantage.
Uploading blurry or oversized documents: Documents must be clean and within 100 KB per file. Blurry scans get rejected at verification.
Entering wrong JEE Main roll number: Registration number is the key identifier in the process of applying online. Typing it wrong means disqualification.
Not noting down the Unique Application Number: The Unique Application Number is required when you want to contact HSTES. Without it, you could have problems with your application in the future.
Sharing your password: Never share your login credentials. You are fully responsible for any changes made through your login.
Going to cybercafes for registration: HSTES recommends against using outside entities to register because they will not provide you with accurate information. You should register from your home, a government Polytechnic college or the HSTES.
