JAC Delhi Counselling 2026 is one of the most anticipated admission processes for engineering and architecture aspirants seeking admission to premier Delhi Government-funded universities.
The Joint Admission Counselling (JAC) Delhi is a centralised online counselling process that facilitates admissions to undergraduate B.Tech, B.Arch, and Dual Degree programmes offered by four prestigious participating institutions such as Delhi Technological University (DTU), Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT), Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW), and Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi).
JAC Delhi was first introduced in 2014 as a single-window admission system by the Government of NCT of Delhi, with the aim of eliminating the inconvenience of multiple counselling processes and reducing the burden on students and their families. Since then, it has grown into a well-structured and transparent admission mechanism. For 2026, DTU is expected to continue as the coordinating institution, overseeing the entire process with the technical support of the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
Admissions through JAC Delhi 2026 will be based on candidates ranks in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). With over 6,000+ engineering seats and 90 B.Arch seats across the four participating universities, the competition is intense. This complete guide covers everything you need to know from registration and eligibility to seat allotment and fee structures to help you navigate JAC Delhi Counselling 2026 with confidence.

- For DTU, NSUT, IGDTUW: Seats are allocated purely on the basis of CRL (Common Rank List) rankings in the JEE MAIN 2026, along with all other factors, such as candidates category, region, eligibility and choices filled by the candidates.
- For IIIT-Delhi: Separate merit list shall have to be generated based on the final percentage of scores received by the candidates in JEE MAIN 2026 along with the placement of any 2 bonus points awarded. In the event of a tie, preference will be given to the candidate with a higher CRL.
- Tie-Breaking Criteria (JAC Delhi 2026): If, after implementing NTA’s Tie-Breaking measures, there is still a tie in the CRL ranks of two or more candidates in JEE Main 2026, the following tie-breaking measures will be used:
- The date of birth (i.e., preference shall be given to the candidate who is the oldest).
- If a tie still exists, it will be broken using a random draw.
Seat Float & Freeze Options:
- If a candidate wishes to retain their currently allotted seat and does not want to be considered for an upgrade to another seat allotment, they must Freeze their seat or branch via the JAC Delhi Portal.
- If candidates would like to continue seeking a higher preference for a seat during the next round(s), they shall Float their allotted seat or branch.
- Once seats or branches are Frozen, candidates shall not be able to change their minds and revert to continuing their search for a higher preference/seat; this action will be final.
