Online Choice Filling Process for BDS Course

Admission to BDS courses in Maharashtra for the academic year 2025-26 will be conducted through an online preference form on the official website www.mahacet.org. There will be no offline preference filling process. Eligible candidates from the State Merit List can fill out preferences for Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and Online Stray Vacancy Round separately.

Candidates can submit their choices only if they have completed the document verification process and are deemed eligible. A fresh preference form must be filled for each round separately. The preferences submitted for one round will not be carried forward to subsequent rounds, except for Online Stray Vacancy Round, where the preferences will be considered for subsequent stray rounds (if any) in Government/Corporation/Government-aided institutions.

  1. Process of Online Preference Filling

Candidates should enter their most preferred course and college as their first choice, followed by other preferences in descending order.

The preference form should be filled carefully since once submitted, no changes, additions, or deletions can be made for that particular round.

  1. College & Seat Code System

Each college & course combination has a four-digit code with an S or N suffix:

  • “S” – State Quota (All seats in Government/Corporation Colleges & 85% seats in Private/Minority Colleges)
  • “N” – Institutional Quota (15% seats in Private/Minority Colleges)

Candidates applying for Institutional Quota must have paid the Rs. 5000/- fee.

  1. NRI & OMS (Other than Maharashtra State) Candidates
  • NRI/Ward of NRI candidates can only give preferences for Institutional Quota seats (N-suffix) and cannot opt for State Quota (S-suffix) seats.
  • OMS candidates (non-Maharashtra candidates) can only apply for Institutional Quota seats (N-suffix) and must have paid the required application fee.

Selection Process By Cap Round BDS Course

The Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for BDS admissions is conducted in multiple rounds using a computer-based allotment system. The selection is merit-based and follows a structured round-wise process to ensure transparency.

  1. CAP Round 1 Process

Seat Allotment Based on Preferences & Merit: Candidates who registered and filled preferences are allotted seats based on NEET UG rank, category, and available seats.

Options After Seat Allotment

  • Option 1: Candidate accepts the seat and wants an upgrade. They should NOT fill the Status Retention Form and must submit fresh choices for Round 2.
  • Option 2: Candidate accepts the seat and does NOT want an upgrade. They must fill the Status Retention Form and will be out of further rounds.
  • Option 3: Candidate does not join the allotted seat. They remain eligible for Round 2 and must fill fresh preferences.

Non-Joining Consequences: If a candidate does not report to the allotted college, their seat will be vacated and included in Round 2.

Available Seats in Round 2: Unfilled seats from Round 1 or Seats vacated due to non-joining/cancellation or Seats freed up by candidates upgrading from Round 1.
