Chandigarh NEET PG Counselling 2026 is the admission process for MD/MS seats at Government Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, Chandigarh. Admission is based on the rank in NEET PG 2026, which is conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). GMCH conducts the State Quota counselling itself, through its Academic Branch under the Director-Principal.
There are 155 seats in total (151 plus 4 EWS seats in the State Quota) and divided into two parts. All India Quota (AIQ) has 75 seats, and these are allotted through counselling by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The State Quota has 76 seats plus 4 EWS seats, which makes 80, and GMCH conducts the counselling. MCC NEET PG counselling and Chandigarh state counselling are separate processes, and MCC does not conduct the Chandigarh State Quota counselling.
Round 1 counselling registration ended on 18 October 2026. The list of deficient documents is scheduled for 19 October 2026, and Round 1 choice filling for 23 to 26 October 2026.

| Internship | Compulsory rotatory internship completed satisfactorily by 30 September 2026 |
| Registration | Registration with NMC or a State Medical Council is necessary |
| Domicile Requirement | No separate domicile certificate is listed. Eligibility depends on MBBS from Chandigarh, and SC/OBC/EWS certificates must be from Chandigarh authorities |
| State Eligibility | A notarized affidavit that the candidate has not opted for or claimed admission benefit in any other state/UT after the NEET result |
| Other Requirements | Only Indian citizens. OCI card holders are eligible for General seats of the State Quota if they got the OCI card before 4 March 2021 |
Affidavit for State Quota
Every State Quota candidate submits a notarized affidavit while applying. A fresh notarized affidavit, issued not more than two working days before reporting at GMCH, is needed again. It must say that the candidate has not opted for and claimed admission benefit in any other state or UT after the NEET result. The format is on a Rs.10 non-judicial stamp paper and is attested by a notary public, oath commissioner or executive magistrate.
A candidate is treated as having opted for and claimed the benefit elsewhere in these cases, and the State Quota candidature is then cancelled:
- The candidate applied for State Quota seats in a government medical college of another state or UT.
- The candidate applied for State Quota or management quota seats in private colleges or universities of another state or UT.
- The candidate applied for both GMCH and another state or UT as a resident there, and later withdrew from the other state or UT.
- The candidate did not reply in time to a clarification sought on any of these points.
Candidates From Other States
Candidates who did not do MBBS from a Chandigarh college cannot take State Quota seats. They can get a GMCH seat through the AIQ by taking part in MCC counselling. After the third round, if seats remain, the stray vacancy round is open to candidates eligible as per NEET PG 2026 from any state or UT, but they are treated as General candidates.
PwBD Candidates
PwBD candidates must meet the State Quota eligibility. In addition, they need these:
- A benchmark disability of at least 40% in a specified disability, with a clear diagnosis.
- A valid UDID card.
- An Eligibility Certificate issued by a Medical Assessment Board designated by DGHS/MCC. It must say the candidate is Eligible or Eligible with Reasonable Accommodation. The board list has 62 centres, and GMCH Sector 32, Chandigarh is one of them.
- Notarized self-certified affidavits: Form A and Form G for all PwBD candidates, plus the disability-specific form (Forms B to F) if it applies.
- The candidate must have claimed PwBD status while applying for NEET PG 2026.
The final eligibility is decided only after physical verification and functional assessment by the Medical Assessment Board at the time of counselling. The seat stays provisional till then. The allotment of a specialty depends on the candidate’s functional competency for it.
Chandigarh NEET PG Counselling 2026 Reservation Policy
Reservation applies only to State Quota seats. It is based on the 76 State Quota seats, and the EWS seats come on top of them. The table below shows the reservation.
| Category | Reservation |

| ST | Not Available |
| OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) | 7% of 76 seats = 5 seats |
| EWS | 4 seats (additional to the 76 seats) |
| PwBD | 5% of 76 seats = 4 seats (horizontal) |
| General | 60 seats |

Chandigarh NEET PG Counselling 2026 Choice Filling

Selecting Courses and Arranging Preferences
- Fill your preferred specialties in order of priority. Seats are allotted on your rank and the order of your choices.
- Check the seat distribution before choice filling. Some specialties have only one or two seats, and AIQ seats rotate in small departments.
- Remember the category seats. PwBD seats are allotted first, then General seats and then reserved seats, so your category and rank decide which seat you can get.
Chandigarh NEET PG Counselling 2026 Admission Process
The seat allocation is displayed on the GMCH website with the NEET PG 2026 rank of each candidate. No separate letter is sent for any counselling. Candidates must then report in person for the admission formalities. The steps are below.
- Check the result: See your allotted specialty on www.gmch.gov.in.
- Report to GMCH: Go to the Director-Principal’s Office, Level II, D Block, GMCH, Sector 32-B, Chandigarh. No TA/DA is paid.
- Document verification: Show the original documents with one set of self-attested photocopies.
- Medical examination: A Medical Board examines every candidate. A candidate who does not appear before the board, or is found unfit, cannot join.
- Fee payment: Deposit the full fee by electronic mode after the medical fitness. If it is not paid, the offer is withdrawn and the seat is declared vacant.
- Submit the undertakings: At joining, submit the declaration, agreement, penalty undertaking, anti-ragging undertakings and the indemnity bond.
- Join the course: The original certificates stay with the college until the course is over.
A migration certificate must be submitted within 15 days of joining. A penalty of Rs.5,000 is charged for delay. All admissions are provisional and subject to approval by Panjab University and NMC.
Course Fee
The tuition fee for Junior Residents is given below. University charges are extra, and the totals are approximate.
| Year | Tuition Fee (per year) | Total with University Charges (approx.) |
| First year | Rs.22,000 | Rs.34,500 |
| Second year | Rs.24,500 | Rs.32,500 |
| Third year | Rs.27,500 | Rs.36,000 |
Hostel and other fees and funds are separate and as per orders of GMCH, Chandigarh Administration and Panjab University. Stipend is paid as per the Chandigarh Administration. Leave is 30 days in the first year and 36 days each in the second and third year. Eighty percent attendance is needed every year.
What Should You Do After Allotment?
- If you want to accept the seat: Report on the given dates and complete the formalities. You need not take part in the next round.
- If you want to take part in the next round or upgrade: Surrender your allotted seat online on the GMCH website, within the round-wise schedule that will be notified. A candidate who does not surrender cannot take part in the next counselling. The surrendered seat goes back to its original category.
- If you did not take part in an earlier round: An otherwise eligible candidate who did not appear in the first counselling can still take part in the second or later counselling.
- If you do not want to join: Surrender the seat in writing before the last date of the admission schedule approved by MCC. Then the original certificates are returned without penalty and the fee is refunded, as explained below.
- If you want to resign after joining: A penalty applies if you leave within one year. See the bond section.
When a seat is surrendered before the last date of the MCC admission schedule, the whole fee collected at counselling is refunded after keeping Rs.1,000 for State Quota candidates, or 10% of the total fees for AIQ candidates. The refund is given only if the vacated seat gets filled. If a candidate shifts to another specialty in the second or later counselling, the fee already paid is transferred.
A candidate who gets admission in another medical college and does not withdraw from GMCH loses the GMCH seat automatically. The fee is forfeited, and a penalty of Rs.5 lakh has to be paid before the original certificates are returned.
