UPTAC B.Tech Counseling 2026 is the most searched admission procedure in Uttar Pradesh for first year B.Tech admission and second year admission through lateral entry to the more than 756+ AKTU affiliated engineering colleges in the state.
The admission is conducted through the official website at https://uptac.samarth.edu.in. Registration began on 25th May, 2026 and concluded on 15th June, 2026. JEE Main 2026 is the compulsory exam for B.Tech admission in all the normal rounds. Total 7 counseling rounds including four normal rounds, internal sliding and two special rounds are conducted by UPTAC which ends on 3rd August, 2026.
Eligibility, Key Dates and Round-Wise Schedule
B.Tech First Year: Candidate must have passed Class 12 with 45% in required subjects & 40% for SC/ST as per AICTE approval. Valid JEE Main 2026 score. D.Voc. stream candidates in same or allied sectors are also eligible. No age limit.
B.Tech Lateral Entry: Diploma in Engineering (3-year or 2-year lateral entry) with 45% marks (40% for SC/ST) from BTEUP-recognised institution, OR B.Sc. with 45% and Mathematics at Class 12 level (B.Sc. candidates considered only after Diploma seats are filled), OR D.Voc. in same or allied sector. CUET UG 2026 required.
Domicile: For all regular rounds of admissions the candidates must have studied in UP state and/or having UP domicile parents otherwise the eligible OSGE candidates can only appear in special rounds.

Registration Process and How Choice Filling Works
- To register for UPTAC B.Tech 2026, create an account on https://uptac.samarth.edu.in, mandatorily link and verify your APAAR ID using DigiLocker. You will then be asked to fill your personal and academic details, upload Class 12 marksheet, JEE Main 2026 scorecard (automatically pulled on application number), domicile/category certificates and medical fitness certificate and pay the registration fee of 1,000.
- Choice filling opens on 22 June 2026. Log in, access the seat matrix (available by 15 June 2026), add college-branch combinations in priority order, and lock before 25 June 2026.
- Round 3 (6–7 July) is the final edit window, choices locked here apply to Round 4 and internal sliding.
- After allotment, select Freeze (confirm seat) or Float (retain seat, attempt upgrade) within the specified window.
- Physical reporting for all freeze candidates is 14–16 July 2026.
- Special Round 1 registration (Phase 2): 18–21 July 2026 for new candidates including OSGE.
