- Choice filling begins only after the Application Fee is successfully paid, and it is open to all candidates who have applied and are eligible to participate in that round.
- Candidates select colleges, then select the courses offered by those colleges, and arrange them in descending order of priority (highest preference first).
- Candidates are advised to choose as many eligible course preferences as possible, since seat allotment strictly follows the order of preferences submitted.
- If a college/course is not included in the preference list, it is treated as the candidate not being interested in that college/course.
- Course preferences can be edited any number of times before the deadline specified for that round. Once the deadline passes, preferences are frozen and no further modification is permitted.
- No seat will be allotted if a candidate fails to submit at least one course preference for a round.
- Fresh course preferences must be submitted separately for each round including Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 and Stray Round. Preferences submitted in an earlier round automatically become null and void for the next round.
- After choice locking, CENTAC processes the allotment based on preferences, seat availability, merit and reservation norms, and publishes the Eligible List followed by the Allotment List.
