Counselling for admission MBBS/BDS course in Uttar Pradesh will be conducted by Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET), Lucknow. Below is the step by step process from counselling registration to documents required.
Online Registration Process for UP NEET UG Counselling
For participate in the Uttar Pradesh NEET UG 2025 counselling, candidates must register online through the official website: https://upneet.gov.in. Follow the steps below:
- Candidates must use their NEET 2025 Roll Number and Application Number to log in.
- Registration must be done as per the instructions shown on the screen.
- Use your own mobile number for registration and further communications.
- After logging in, ensure the details (name, parent’s name, date of birth, etc.) match the NEET admit card.
- If any discrepancy is found, the candidate may be disqualified.
- Candidates must create a strong password for future logins.
- Keep your password secure and do not share it with anyone.
- Pay registration fees online using debit card/credit card/net banking of Rs.2,000 for General / OBC / EWS category candidates and Rs.1,000 for SC / ST candidates.
- Candidates must register afresh for each counselling round, including the stray vacancy round.
- The registration fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.
- After successful registration and payment, candidates should download and save the receipt of the registration form and fee.
UP NEET UG Counselling Registration Fee & Security Money
To participate in UP NEET UG Counselling 2025, candidates need to pay a non-refundable registration fee while applying online. The amount of the fee is different for candidates belonging to different categories:
- Candidates who are from the General, OBC, or EWS category need to pay a registration fee of Rs.2,000.
- SC and ST category candidates need to pay a lower registration fee amount of Rs.1,000.
This registration fee is compulsory and has to be paid in advance online via the UP NEET UG Counselling 2025 website by using debit card, credit card, or net banking.
Apart from the registration fee, the candidates are also required to deposit a refundable security amount depending upon the category of college(s) in which they are making an application under UP NEET UG Counselling 2025:
- Only those candidates who are seeking admission to only government medical or dental colleges need to deposit a security amount of Rs.30,000.
- Those candidates seeking admission to private medical colleges need to pay a security amount of Rs.2,00,000.
- Those candidates seeking admission to private dental colleges need to deposit a security amount of Rs.1,00,000.
- If a candidate is seeking admission to both government and private colleges (medical and dental), then the security amount will be Rs.2,00,000.
- For candidates seeking admission in private and government dental colleges alone, the security deposit is Rs.1,00,000.
The security money will be released once counselling is complete, given that the candidate has not lost the seat or gone against any counselling norms according to UP NEET UG Counselling 2025 rules.

UP NEET UG Counselling Rounds For Admission
Uttar Pradesh NEET UG Counselling for MBBS/BDS admission is conducted in multiple rounds for merit-based seat allotment in government and private medical/dental colleges. Each round has specific rules and timelines. Below is a detailed explanation of each counselling round:
First Round Counselling:
- Students who were allotted seats in the first round needs to download the allotment letter and join the allotted college by paying the admission fee and providing documents within the time limit.
- If a student fails to take admission, he/she will lose eligibility for subsequent rounds of counselling unless she/he avails herself/himself of the “Free Exit” facility.
- Those candidates who wish to upgrade their seat can attend the second round.
Second Round Counselling:
- Shortlisted candidates having seats in the second round need to finish the admission procedure in the respective institute.
- No “Free Exit” is allowed in the second round.
- If a candidate does not take admission after being allotted a seat in the second round, they will be disqualified from further rounds and may have to pay a penalty.
- Candidates not allotted any seat in the second round will be eligible to participate in the mop-up round.
Mop-up Round Counselling:
- Vacant seats after the second round will be filled by the mop-up round.
- Mop-up round will be held for candidates who are not admitted during the earlier rounds.
- Candidates have to re-register for the mop-up round and pay an amount of Rs.1,000/-.
- Mop-up round allotment will be the last round, and candidates have to get the admission process completed if they are allotted a seat.
Stray Vacancy Round:
- For stray vacancy round, only candidates who did not get any seat in earlier rounds will be considered.
- Candidates are required to re-register for stray round and deposit the fees as may be prescribed.
- If a candidate is allocated a seat through this round and does not join, he/she will be debarred from counselling and charged a penalty.
