MMMUT Counseling 2026 Process: Step by Step

The counseling is conducted online through https://mmmut.admissions.nic.in. Here is the complete step-by-step process for home state and other state candidates.

Step 1: Online Registration

All candidates who qualify for JEE Main 2026 and meet all eligibility requirements must register on the counseling website. While registering, the applicant must provide their details, which will remain same with those provided on their JEE Main 2026 registration application. The information should be consistent with what was submitted in the JEE Main 2026 application. MMMUT is not responsible for any inconsistencies in data and their consequences.

If the personal data is found incorrect at the time of document verification or at any later stage, the seat allotment or admission is liable to be cancelled.

Step 2: Payment of Counseling Fee

After registering, the candidate must complete the counseling fee payment through the online payment mode. The amount of the counseling fee is Rs. 2,500. This fee is non-refundable and is required to be paid prior to uploading any documentation or filling choices.

Step 3: Uploading of Documents

Once the candidate has successfully paid the fees, they will then have the opportunity to complete their document upload process. All required documentation will need to be successfully uploaded during the allotted time frame. In the event that an applicant fails to upload required documentation within the prescribed timeframe, then that applicant shall not be considered for the remainder of the seat allotment process except spot allotment.

Step 4: Choice Filling

Candidates fill in their branch preferences in order of priority. Once submitted and locked, choices cannot be altered or modified under any circumstances. All rounds of seat allotment use the same locked choices. Candidates who do not fill any choices will not be considered for seat allotment, and their registration fee will not be refunded.

If a candidate fills choices but forgets to lock them, the choices are auto-locked when the registration and choice-filling window expires. Seat allotment is then made based on those auto-locked choices.

Step 5: Choice Locking

After reviewing and finalizing the order of preference, candidates lock their choices. Locking requires an OTP sent to the registered mobile number and email. After locking, a printout of the locked choices should be taken for future reference.

Step 6: Seat Allotment

The locked choices of all candidates are processed centrally. Seat allotment is announced on the counseling portal. There is no provision for sending allotment letters individually by post. Candidates must log in and download the provisional allotment letter.

Step 7: Seat Allotment Result and FREEZE or FLOAT

After seat allotment, candidates must choose either FREEZE or FLOAT before paying the seat acceptance fee. Not choosing a willingness option will lead to cancellation of the allotted seat, and the candidate will not be allowed to participate in further rounds.

  • FREEZE means you accept the allotted seat and want to confirm it. You can also freeze at a later stage after satisfactory allotment.
  • FLOAT means you accept the current seat but want to be considered for a better branch in the next round.

Step 8: Online Document Verification

Upon selecting FREEZE or FLOAT, candidates original documents will be validated for the appropriate timeframe. Candidates must have one set of self-attested copies of their corresponding documents; these must be uploaded in the required time frame. If the documents cannot be validated due to a discrepancy, candidates must re-upload corrected versions of their original documents. Candidates must continually check the counseling portal for any possible queries and respond in a timely manner to any queries.

If documents have not been validated within the required timeframe, the candidate’s provisional allotment letter will be voided, and the seat will be filled by the next candidate; that candidate will not be eligible for any further rounds of consideration; other than to attend a Counselling Event.

Step 9: Seat Acceptance and Confirmation Fee

Candidates must pay the seat acceptance or confirmation fee as notified on the university website within the time mentioned in the allotment letter. Non-payment within this period leads to cancellation of the provisional admission and the seat is allotted to another candidate. The candidature of such a candidate is not considered in any subsequent round except spot counseling.

Step 10: Remaining University Fee

After deducting the confirmation fee, candidates submit the willingness for hostel (yes or no) and deposit the remaining university fee before registration and reporting for the academic session.

Step 11: Physical Document Verification at University

After provisional admission, all relevant original documents are verified at the time of physical reporting at the university. Candidates must bring one set of self-attested copies of all documents. If physical verification fails, the provisional admission offered will be cancelled and the university fee will be forfeited.

Tips for MMMUT Counseling 2026

Here are some practical points to keep in mind before and during the counseling process.

  • Verify your eligibility before paying the registration fee. Check your marks for your Physics, Math and third subject meets the minimums set by the institution (55%/60% for General and 50%/55% for SC/ST). Do not assume you are eligible without checking this first.
  • Fill as many choices as possible in order of preference. Don’t just add the top two or three choices; include the other choices as well and this will give you more selection options in subsequent rounds.
  • Lock your choices before the deadline. If you do not lock manually, the system auto-locks at the deadline. But it is far better to lock yourself after checking the order carefully. A wrong order can cost you a better branch.
  • Get all certificates in the correct format before counseling opens. OBC and EWS certificates must be dated on or after April 1, 2026. Category certificates in any other format will not be accepted. Download the certificate formats from the university website in advance.
