Government Women’s Polytechnic Patna.
The institution was established in the year 1984-85 vide Govt. notification 4202 dated 12-10-1984, under Deptt. of Science & Technology, Govt. of Bihar,  with the objective of enhancing the women’s participation in technical education and improving the quality of education according to the modern updated standards, globally accepted worldwide.
At its inception, the institution started with a total intake of 30 students in two diploma courses viz. Library Science & Secretarial practice.

There had been a steady and gradual development over the years and the institution, at present, is imparting education in six different trades/ courses with a total intake of 270 students including Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computers Science & Engineering, Architectural Assistantship, Library Science and Modern Office Practice.
The lush green campus is spread over 07 acres, sylvan landscapes with plenty of greenery. The natural beauty with the soothing atmosphere, refreshing environment, peace and comfort inside the campus which makes it a wonderful place to live and learn.

Today the campus houses a Main Building, Students Hostels, Workshop Building, Residential Quarters, office attendant’s quarters, various labs related to the specific branches, computer labs, Library, Canteen, Language lab, Edu-Sat Lab and several other modern standard facilities.
Over the decades, the institute has produced Dynamic Diploma Engineers with creative skills and having great excellence in various disciplines, with multi-dimensional abilities, technical expertise, and overall entrepreneurship, affinity towards the development of the nation and society.
Our students have won numerous awards in academics as well as socio-cultural activities and on the whole, have succeeded in contributing humble positive efforts towards the building of a progressive society.
