GNM is the abbreviation for General Nursing Midwifery. GNM is a course generally of three years in which six months compulsory internship is included. Diploma is awarded to those who successfully completed their course. Eligibility Criteria for GNM Course Admission:
- The candidate must be 17 years of minimum age as on 31st December of the academic year.
- The candidates must be medically fit and have to provide medical certificate at the time of getting admission.
- The candidate must have done their 10 + 2 from a recognized board with Science stream and Biology subjects are preferred.
- The minimum total percentage of marks should be 50% for general category (40% for SC/ST candidates) with science subjects.
GNM Course Admission Process:
There is generally a common entrance test conducted by the states in order to take admission in GNM course in their respective states. For Private colleges or Universities the admissions are also granted on the basis of the marks obtained in the common entrance test.
Common Entrance Test for GNM Course:
There are several institutes in India which conducts common entrance test for granting admissions in GNM course. After the announcement of result in common entrance test merit list is prepared by the exam conducting authority and the seats are allotted on the basis of merit prepared. There are several steps that are to be followed by the applicants and the procedure of registration till the admission is almost same in most of the states. The procedure and the steps one has to follow in order to apply for the course is given as follows:
- Registration: The first step towards admission is to register to the official portal of the college offering the course. The registration can be done by creating a profile by entering the basic details asked in the registration cum application form of the college.
- Uploading the documents: There are several documents that needs to be uploaded to the official website i.e. mark sheet, etc.
- Payment of Application Fee: There is a nominal fee that is to be paid at the time of submitting the application fee. The application can be paid via online/offline mode. If is advised that the candidates have to download the receipt of the application fee.
- Issue of Admit Card: After the receipt of the application form by the authority that admit card will be issued to the shortlisted candidates. The admit card will be uploaded by the authority and the candidates have to take the print out of the admit card.
- Exam conduction: After issuance of admit card the candidates have to present admit card to the examination centre as their identity proof.
- Announcement of Result: After giving the entrance examination the result will be announced within a week or two. The announcement of the result is made either on the website or on campus bulletin board.
- Counseling: After the announcement of the result a counseling round is conducted for the eligible students.
- Admission: After going through all the above mentioned processes the candidate needs to pay the admission fee in order to confirm their seat.
