About ANM Course :

ANM  is the abbreviation for Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery. ANM is short term course generally of two years in which six months compulsory internship is included. The diploma is awarded to those who successfully completed their course. ANM Course is the first step the basics of the nursing field. ANM diploma is opted by the students who have done their higher secondary in the field of Science and arts stream. ANM course generally teaches maternity care and assistance to new mothers during the pregnancy period and thereafter provide general guidance to cater their motherhood. ANM course covers an extensive range of subjects such as Fundamentals of Nursing, Behavioural Science, Microbiology, Biological Science, Anatomy, Community Health Nursing, Physiology, Sociology, and First Aid. Eligibility Criteria for ANM Course admission :

  • The candidate must be 17 years of minimum age as on 31st December of the academic year.
  • The candidates must be medically fit and have to provide medical certificate at the time of getting admission.
  • The maximum age of the candidate should not exceed 35 years of age.
  • The candidate must have done their 10 + 2 from a recognized board.
  • The minimum total percentage of marks should be 50% for general category (40% for SC/ST candidates) with science subjects.

ANM Course Admission Process:

There are two ways via which the candidates are granted admissions in ANM course i.e. common entrance test and direct entry.

Common Entrance Test for ANM Course:

There are several institutes in India which conducts common entrance test for granting admissions in ANM course. After the announcement of result in common entrance test merit list is prepared by the exam conducting authority and the seats are allotted on the basis of merit prepared. There are several steps that are to be followed by the applicants:

  • Registration: The first step towards admission is to register to the official portal of the college offering the course. The registration can be done by creating a profile by entering the basic details asked in the registration cum application form of the college.
  • Uploading the documents: There are several documents that needs to be uploaded to the official website i.e. mark sheet, etc.
  • Payment of Application Fee: There is a nominal fee that is to be paid at the time of submitting the application fee. The application can be paid via online/offline mode. If is advised that the candidates have to download the receipt of the application fee.
  • Issue of Admit Card: After the receipt of the application form by the authority that admit card will be issued to the shortlisted candidates. The admit card will be uploaded by the authority and the candidates have to take the printout of the admit card.
  • Exam conduction: After issuance of admit card the candidates have to present admit card to the examination center as their identity proof.
  • Announcement of Result: After giving the entrance examination the result will be announced within a week or two. The announcement of the result is made either on the website or on-campus bulletin board.
  • Counseling: After the announcement of result a counseling round is conducted for the eligible students.
  • Admission: After going through all the above-mentioned processes the candidate needs to pay the admission fee in order to confirm their seat.

Direct admission in ANM Course:

There are majority of nursing or medical colleges which provides admissions on the basis of the marks obtained in their senior secondary examination. After the announcement of the result by the board the nursing colleges release their cut off scores. The candidates willing to take admission must reach upto the cut off score or more than the cut off scores. There are several steps that is to be followed by the applicants in order to complete the process:
