- Date of Birth
- Your JEE Main 2026 Application Number & Rank
- Category & Sub-Category (if applicable)
- Your Domicile – UP Home State/Other State
- Contact Information – an active mobile number and email ID
- Bank Account Details – for refund purposes, the name of the account holder, account number, IFSC, and name of the bank that serviced your account must be provided

Step 3: Pay the Registration Fee
After registration, pay the non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 2,500 through the online payment gateway.
| Category | Registration Fee |
|---|---|
| All candidates (General, OBC, SC, ST, PwD) | Rs. 2,500 (Non-Refundable) |
Payment modes accepted: Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI.
Keep the payment confirmation receipt. You will need it for any future correspondence and for Phase 2 registration (if applicable).
Step 4: Fill Branch Choices Very Carefully
After registration and fee payment, fill in your branch preferences in your desired order. This is the most critical step of the entire process.
Key points about choice filling:
- Fill your choices very carefully, once filled and submitted, choices cannot be altered during any subsequent round
- The same locked choices are used for all three rounds of Phase 1 and all rounds of internal sliding
- Your choice order directly determines what you get in each round and during internal sliding
- Do not fill only 2 or 3 choices, include as many branches as you are willing to study in, in your order of preference
Once you lock your choices, the system uses them not just for Round 1 but for Round 2, Round 3, and internal sliding as well. A hasty or poorly thought-out choice list can result in a branch you are not happy with and no revision is possible.
Step 5: Wait for Seat Allotment Result
The first round seat allotment result is published on the admission portal. Log in using your application number and password to check your allotment status. No separate intimation is sent by post or email.

Common Mistakes to Avoid During HBTU Registration
- Filling choice list carelessly: This is the most damaging mistake. Your choices are locked after submission and used for all rounds and internal sliding. Spend time on this.
- Wrong category selection: Category cannot be changed after form submission under any circumstances.
- Incorrect bank account details: The account details you enter during registration are used for any refund. A wrong account number means your refund may fail or be misdirected – HBTU takes no responsibility.
- Not attending document verification: If you get a seat and do not appear for verification at HBTU in the stipulated time, the seat is cancelled and you exit the counselling process.
- Not registering on University ERP: All fee-paid candidates must register on ERP to confirm admission. Skipping this leads to automatic seat cancellation.
- Sharing login credentials: HBTU strongly advises keeping your application ID and password confidential. Misuse by others is entirely the candidate’s responsibility.
