HBTU Counselling 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Before registering, confirm you meet the following conditions:
For B.Tech (Home State – UP Quota):
- Passed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects + Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science as a third subject
- Minimum 55% aggregate in the above three subjects (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD candidates)
- Valid JEE Main 2026 CRL (All India Rank) with positive composite score
- Passed qualifying exam from an institution in Uttar Pradesh OR parents are domicile of Uttar Pradesh
For Other State (5% Supernumerary Seats):
- Same academic eligibility as above
- Both candidate and parents are domicile of a state other than UP
- Passed 10+2 from an institution outside Uttar Pradesh

Step 1: Go to the Admission Portal
To start the online admission process for B.Tech counselling 2026, go to the admission portal at https://hbtu.admissions.nic.in. The site will open to online registration for B.Tech counselling 2026 after the start date of the admission process, which is on May 2026.
Step 2: Complete the Required Registration Form
You will be required to fill and submit all details of the online registration form. Following are the details required to complete the registration form:

- Date of Birth

- Fill your choices very carefully, once filled and submitted, choices cannot be altered during any subsequent round
- The same locked choices are used for all three rounds of Phase 1 and all rounds of internal sliding
- Your choice order directly determines what you get in each round and during internal sliding
- Do not fill only 2 or 3 choices, include as many branches as you are willing to study in, in your order of preference
Once you lock your choices, the system uses them not just for Round 1 but for Round 2, Round 3, and internal sliding as well. A hasty or poorly thought-out choice list can result in a branch you are not happy with and no revision is possible.
Step 5: Wait for Seat Allotment Result
The first round seat allotment result is published on the admission portal. Log in using your application number and password to check your allotment status. No separate intimation is sent by post or email.

Once registration and choice filling are complete, here is what follows in each round:
If a seat is allotted – Round 1 or Round 2:
- Visit HBTU Kanpur with all original documents for offline document verification (mandatory physical visit)
- After successful verification, pay the Full Academic Fee of Rs. 1,35,000 immediately
- Choose FREEZE (confirm the seat) or FLOAT (accept seat, try for better in next round)
- If FREEZE is chosen, register on University ERP and give consent for internal sliding (Yes or No)
If a seat is allotted – Round 3 (last round of Phase 1):
- Visit HBTU for document verification if first-time allotment
- Pay Rs. 1,35,000 academic fee
