Choice Filling and Choice Locking Process
Choice filling in Karnataka NEET Counselling 2026 is called “Option Entry” and begins only after the seat matrix is published by KEA. There is no separate “locking” step; instead, options recorded at the last date and time notified for that round are automatically frozen.
- Option entry begins only after the seat matrix (college-wise, category-wise, course-wise seats) is displayed on the KEA website.
- Only candidates who become eligible after verification can enter options; they log in with their CET Number and password.
- Candidates select the discipline (Medical or Dental) and enter priority numbers against colleges/courses; options can mix Medical and Dental in any order.
- There is no limit on the number of options a candidate can enter.
- Candidates can add, delete, re-order or modify their options as many times as they wish before the last date and time for that round.
- A Mock Seat Allotment is conducted before the actual round, showing an indicative allotment so candidates can revise their options; this is not the final allotment.
- Options recorded on the last date and time notified for that round are frozen and considered final for allotment.
- The options entered before the First Round remain the base list for subsequent rounds; candidates cannot add fresh options in later rounds unless a new college/course is added to the seat matrix, though they can delete, re-order, or reduce their existing higher-priority options.
After allotment, candidates who receive a seat must select one of four Choices (First Round):
| Choice | Meaning |
| Choice-1 | 100% satisfied with the allotted college/course; will pay fees and join; will not participate in further rounds |
| Choice-2 | Satisfied with the allotted seat but wants to participate in the next round for seat up-gradation using higher-order options; must log in again in the next round |
| Choice-3 | Not satisfied with the allotted seat; rejects it and participates in the next round using remaining options |
| Choice-4 | Has taken admission elsewhere and wishes to exit/quit the KEA seat allotment process |
If a candidate fails to exercise any of these four Choices within the stipulated time, the allotted seat is automatically cancelled without further notice, and the candidate cannot participate in further rounds.
