ABOUT CLAT 2017

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a non-statutory body created under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the convenience of the students seeking admission to various National Law Universities in the country. (CLAT) is conducted by 14 National Law Universities/Institutes for admissions to five-year integrated under-graduate and post graduate degree programs. About 21 National Law Universities participate in this exam. This year it would be organized by Chanakya National Law University, Patna.

EXAM PATTERN

Total Marks: 200
Number of Questions: 200
Duration: 2 hours
Marking: There is system of negative marking and for every incorrect answer 1/4th marks will be deducted.

ADMIT CARD

CLAT 2017 admit card will be available for download on the official site. Candidates can access their admit cards through their respective login account. it shall be made available from 3rd week of April 2017. It would not be sent by e-mail or post. ELIGIBILITY

SYLLABUS

The exam shall be conducted in an online mode and the paper would have a total count of 200 questions across five subjects mentioned as below

 

English syllabus: You will be tested in terms of vocabulary, proficiency and the usage errors made in the language across following types:

  1. Antonyms, synonyms,and analogies

     2. Idioms

     3. Phrases,fill in the blanks, cloze tests

     4.Rearrangement of sentences and words

     5. Common usage errors, spelling, use of inappropriate words

 

GK and Current Affairs: News which are of importance in the national and international context for the past one year need to be understood in-depth. These would span across various fields like economics, geography,  technology, sports, persons, books and authors to mention a few. 

Maths: Numeric ability equivalent to that of 10th standard education would be tested. Below mentioned are the categories:

         1. Arithmetic: Number systems, surds, square root, approximation, ratio and proportion, average.

         2. Commercial Maths: Profit and loss, percentages, partnerships and discounts

         3. Mensuration: Volumes and areas.

 

Legal Aptitude: The section would test the candidate's understanding in various fields of law- International, Criminal, Indian Constitution, Contracts, torts and family law. Approach to research and solving problems would be tested. 

Logical Reasoning: They are of the following two types:

1. Reasoning: Classification, coding and decoding, relationships, alphabets, distance, direction

2. Logic: Assumptions, arguments, conclusions and the best course of action.

RESULTS

The result will be declared on 23 May, 2017. Candidates can check the result by logging in to their respective accounts on the official site.

COUNSELLING DETAILS

CLAT Committee is conducting CLAT 2017 Counselling.  The Counselling is expected to begin from first week of June 2017.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their score in CLAT.

CUT OFF

CLAT 2017 cut offs for all the NLUs will be released once the result is out.
